How to reach Bhutan
Flight Options – Only Druk Airways and Bhutan Tashi Airways flies to Paro. No Indian carrier flies to Bhutan. These Airlines ticket are not available in the Internet for Online Booking for Indian Nationals. Only couple of authorized booking agents in India does the booking . By Road through Phuntsholing – Phuntsholing is the border city of Bhutan sharing border with West Bengal Town, Jiagaon. Phuntsholing can be reached by road or by train from West Bengal and other parts of India. The Nearest railway station of Phuntsholing is Hasimara ( Stn Code HSA) and other two other nearby station is Alipur Duar JN ( APDJ) and New Cooch Bihar ( NCB).
Visa/Permits Requirements
To enter into Bhutan, No Visa is required for Indian National, only permits are required. To obtain the permit, you require to produce the Passport or Indian Voter ID Card. Permit can be obtained on arrival at Paro Airport , at Phuntsholing check post and even at New Delhi and Kolkata Bhutan Consulate office. Bhutan Currency / Credit Card and Conversion
Bhutan currency is Nu and It is 1:1 with Indian Rupee, INR. All denominations Indian Notes including 500 and 1000 Rupees are widely accepted in Bhutan. The ATM facility in Bhutan is very limited and it is recommended to carry cash in Bhutan. The usage of credit card is also very limited in Bhutan.
Thimphu
Thimphu is a conglomeration of a number of stunning hamlets spread over a beautiful valley. The hamlets are Motithang, Changangkha, Taba, Langchupakha and Changlimithang and there is endless scope for Nature exploration in these regions. Paro

Punakha
Punakha, the administrative centre of Punakha dzongkhag is an important district of Bhutan. Situated at a distance of 72 kilometers from national capital Thimphu,Punakha is a picturesque region spread over the valleys of Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. It takes only a 3-hour car ride to reach Punakha from Thimphu and you as a worshipper of Mother Nature would simply love the journey through picturesque serpentine roads with the valley on one side and the mountain wall on the other.
At the middle of the journey your car will reach Dochu La Pass, one of the most romantic sites in Bhutan. Dochu La is famous as a view point and while looking downwards from there you will feel like standing above the clouds. Dochu La is the site from where you can get the first glimpse of the Eastern Himalaya. Dochu La is located at an altitude of 3100 metre and from there your car will start going downwards towards the lowland of Punakha. Situated at an altitude of 1200 meters, Punakha was the capital of Bhutan before shfting the base permanently to Thimphu.
